Mary at the Foot of the Cross – John 19:25-27

Mary at the Foot of the Cross: A Mother’s Silent Strength

John 19:25-27: A Testimony of Faithful Love

My dear children,

As I stood at the foot of the cross, watching my Son give His life for the salvation of the world, my heart was filled with sorrow and pain, but also with deep faith and love. “Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother” (John 19:25). I did not leave His side, even in His most agonizing moments. This scene, filled with suffering, was also filled with profound love. My presence there was a testament to my unshakable faith in God’s plan and to my love for Jesus. I want you to know that even in the hardest moments of life, love and faith can sustain you. You can stand firm, as I did, by trusting in God’s will, even when it seems unbearable.

The Silent Suffering of a Mother

There is no greater pain for a mother than to witness the suffering of her child. As I stood there, unable to ease my Son’s pain, my soul was pierced with the sorrow that Simeon had foretold (Luke 2:35). My suffering was silent—no words could express the depth of my heartache. I want you to know that suffering can often feel overwhelming, and at times, there are no words to describe it. But even in silence, there is strength. I stood by Jesus, offering my silent presence, my love, and my unwavering faith. I encourage you to find strength in your silent suffering, knowing that God is with you in every moment of pain.

Silence can be powerful. I encourage you to embrace the silent moments of suffering with faith, trusting that God hears the prayers of your heart and that your quiet strength is a testimony to His presence.

A Mother’s Faith in God’s Plan

At the foot of the cross, I was not only witnessing the suffering of my Son, but I was also witnessing the fulfillment of God’s divine plan. As painful as it was, I trusted that God’s will was being carried out, and that through Jesus’ suffering, the world would be redeemed. I want you to remember that even in the darkest moments of your life, God is at work. His plans are higher than ours, and His ways are beyond our understanding. I had to trust that the cross, though it represented immense suffering, was also the means through which God would bring salvation to all humanity. I encourage you to trust in God’s plan, even when it seems difficult to comprehend.

Faith carries you through suffering. I encourage you to trust that God is with you in your pain, and that He has a plan for your life that is filled with hope, even in the midst of suffering.

Jesus Entrusting His Mother to Us

In His final moments, Jesus looked at me and at the beloved disciple and said, “Woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother” (John 19:26-27). In this moment, Jesus was not only taking care of me as His mother, but He was also giving me to all of you, entrusting me as the spiritual mother of all believers. I want you to know that my love and care for you are always with you. Just as I stood by Jesus at the foot of the cross, I stand by you in your moments of need, praying for you, comforting you, and guiding you toward my Son. You are my children, and I am here for you.

I am your mother. I encourage you to come to me with your needs, your struggles, and your prayers, trusting that I will intercede for you and lead you closer to my Son, Jesus.

Finding Strength in the Cross

The cross, though a place of suffering, is also a place of great strength. As I stood at the foot of the cross, I drew strength from my faith in God’s love and from my trust in His plan. Jesus’ suffering was not the end; it was the beginning of the new life He would bring through His resurrection. I want you to know that the cross in your own life—your struggles, your hardships—can also be a place of strength. When you face difficulties, turn to the cross and find the strength that comes from knowing that Jesus’ love for you conquered even death. He is with you in every moment, giving you the grace to endure.

The cross is a source of strength. I encourage you to find strength in the cross, knowing that Jesus’ love and victory over death give you the courage to face whatever trials come your way.

Action Steps:

Embrace silent strength. In moments of suffering, embrace the power of silent strength, trusting that God is with you and that your faith is a witness to His love.

Trust in God’s plan. Even when life is difficult, hold on to the belief that God’s plan is greater than your understanding, and that He is working for your good.

Turn to the cross for strength. In your moments of struggle, look to the cross and draw strength from Jesus’ love and His victory over suffering and death.

Words to Reflect On:

“Woman, here is your son… Here is your mother” (John 19:26-27). My dear children, as I stood at the foot of the cross, I trusted in God’s plan, even in my sorrow. Trust in His love, find strength in your faith, and know that I am always with you, interceding for you before my Son.

With love and grace,

Your Mother Mary
